Rostering and timesheets for traffic control crews.

Work sites change daily, start before dawn and sit on a stretch of road rather than at a front door. Crewline is built for crews who are somewhere new tomorrow.

Sound familiar?

Running traffic control crews without the ring-around.

  • BeforeTomorrow’s job came through at 4 pm and the crew still needs the address.

With CrewlineAdd the site from its address, roster the crew and publish. The shift and address are on their phones straight away.

  • BeforeA work zone along a road doesn’t match a single street address.

With CrewlineTraffic control sites start with a 500 metre clock-in zone, and you can widen it to 2 km for long work zones.

  • BeforeChanges to the plan don’t reach every controller on site.

With CrewlineThe site chat follows the roster, and urgent messages get through quiet hours and muted chats.

Features

How Crewline works for traffic control crews.

  • Short-notice rostering

Create a site, roster the crew and publish in minutes. Staff can accept or decline from their phone.

  • Wide clock-in zones

Zones from 25 metres to 2 km per site, with clock-ins outside the zone flagged for review or refused.

  • Set-up checklist

Traffic guidance scheme on site, signs and cones placed, radio check: ticked on the phone with the time recorded.

  • Pre-dawn and night work

Set the early, late and overnight rates from your award or agreement, and they’re applied to every hour worked.

  • Clock in on rural roads

No signal? Clock-ins save on the phone and sync when the crew is back in range.

  • Public holidays by state

Each site follows its own state’s public holidays, so holiday rates land on the right days for crews working across a border.

Checklists

Starter checklists, ready to edit.

Load a template onto any site, change it to suit, and keep up to 40 items. Staff tick items on their phone during the shift.

Pay and awards

Your award’s rates, applied to every hour.

Many traffic controllers are covered by an enterprise agreement or the Building and Construction General On-site Award 2020 [MA000020]; check which applies to your business with Fair Work. Crewline has no traffic control template, so start from the simple pay rules and enter your rates.

Time-based rates (weekends, public holidays, overtime, early, late and overnight work) are applied for you. Allowances aren’t calculated.

Check the Fair Work pay guides (opens in a new tab)

  • Rates for casual, part-time and full-time staff
  • Early, late and overnight shift rates
  • Saturday, Sunday and public holiday rates
  • Overtime by the day, the week or both
  • Public holidays for each site’s state
  • Pay shown as an estimate until you confirm the rates

FAQ

Traffic control questions, answered.

More on clock-in privacy, payroll export and pricing in the main FAQ.

Can controllers clock in without phone signal?

Yes. The clock-in is saved on the phone with the time it happened and syncs when signal returns. Entries recorded offline are marked so you can check them.

Does Crewline manage tickets, licences or traffic management plans?

No. Crewline handles rostering, clock-in, timesheets, checklists, chat and pay rates. Keep licences and traffic management plans in the systems you use today.

How are public holidays handled across states?

Each site is set to a state, and Crewline uses that state’s official public holidays. Regional days such as show days can be added by your business.
